Wanaka Air Services Grounded
November 21st, 2012
Scheduled airline services through Wanaka airport will end on January 30 next year. Air NZ subsidiary Eagle Air has been operating the services since 2004 but they have never generated enough patronage to turn a profit.
The problem is Wanaka simply has too small a population catchment to support such services and there are ample air services operating into and out of nearby Queenstown totalling some 25,000 seats a week.
