New truck driving guide aims to raise standards

June 25th, 2009

Tranzqual has released a comprehensive new guide to driving trucks on NZ roads with the aim of raising professional standards within the industry and assisting with training of new drivers. Professional Skills for Driving Trucks is a comprehensively illustrated 230 page book full of practical information on all the skills and knowledge drivers need to safely and efficiently drive trucks in NZ.

Tranzqual CEO, Wayne Smith, says the book is essentially a truck driver’s bible and is an indispensable reference. It is especially targeted at the trainee or less experienced driver but will also prove highly useful for long time drivers wanting to refresh their skills and knowledge. “It includes all the most relevant information and tips and hints on heavy licence driving in NZ so all drivers, will get something out of it.”

The book’s 10 chapters also provide information relevant to at least 20 unit standards registered on the National Qualifications Framework so will assist in the training of future truck drivers and meeting the expected driver shortage over coming years. He adds this makes the book an excellent companion guide for people working towards a truck driving national qualification or modern apprenticeship. The book has a recommended retail price of $89.95 and can be ordered from or bought from selected retail outlets.
