The Kiwi Road Assessment Programme (KiwiRap) has identified the country’s most dangerous roads, with the two worst in the Waikato, and third riskiest the Rimutaka Hill road from the Hutt Valley to the Wairarapa.
Sixty of the worst roads were identified by comparing the number of deadly and serious crashes between 2002 and 2006 and then between 2007 and 2012. Associate Transport Minister Simon Bridges says the report helps the Govt measure and understand risk levels. The data will feed into future decision making on road improvements.
