Forwarders Step Up Pallet Search
February 27th, 2013
Keeping track of pallets continues to be a challenge for the freight forwarding and logistics industry, with operators reminding customers that return or exchange is an essential factor in the supply chain. Among these is Ryders Customs & Forwarding (www.ryders.co.nz) who in an industry advisory note explains “where we collect loose cartons from a depot they bring them out on pallets.
We have to give loose exchange pallets for these, or hand-load. The problem is some clients are not giving us exchange pallets back when we deliver.” Ryders points out a pallet lost here or there is of no concern “but on large LCL consignments we will have to look at charging if no exchange pallets are offered on an ongoing basis.”
